Thanks for the question! The TBT3-UDZ should be compatible with a Mac Studio to support up to 2x 4K displays and peripherals. Because the Mac Studio has its own power supply, the TBT3-UDZ will not charge the host, so you do not need to worry about the circuits frying!

Hello, if one of your PCs best available port is USB 3.0 then the link rate between both PCs would be based on USB 3.0 and in this case I'd recommend using our "USB3-TRAN" sku that we offer as part of our USB Transfer Cable lineup.

For reference, the Plugable TBT4-UDZ shown in the video is a Thunderbolt 4 docking station, which means that the monitors connected to the dock are in essence connected directly to the graphics processing unit (GPU) within the host computer. In terms of gaming, the dock-connected monitors should perform at the same level as when they are connected directly to the host computer however there can be exceptions depending upon the specifications of the monitors. Prior to making a purchase, we would suggest that you contact Plugable directly via --> plugable.com/pages/support with more details about your setup which in turn will help us make an informed recommendation.

Docks that support USB-C Power Delivery will either come with their own power supply, or if they support "Power Delivery Pass-through" they will use the laptop's USB-C power supply to provide power to the dock & laptop. The specific dock shown in this video (UD-ULTC4K) comes with its own power supply.

@@ozake26 The use of multiple docks could allow for more displays (depending on which computer you have), however it would not allow the docks to achieve higher resolutions than the maximum they support. We generally wouldn't recommend 8 high-resolution displays on a laptop as the performance can be limited even on high-end laptops.

We wouldn't recommend 8 displays on a laptop as it can be hard to guarantee performance even on high-end laptops (regardless of which products are in use). Regarding your other question, this is in reference to your laptops native performance from the CPU (and on-board graphics if applicable) and GPU. While we do strive to support Linux on our products whenever possible (Plugable's founder has even submitted driver code over the years), unfortunately, USB graphics support in various Linux distros haven't reached the point where we can recommend this combination. DisplayLink (the manufacturer of the chipset and software used in many of our docking stations) does offer support for Ubuntu Linux here (www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu) with a FAQ here (support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/topics/103927-troubleshooting-ubuntu) that contains installation instructions. We're assuming you mean "being charged"? If so, then yes. We have a number of products that will add additional screens to the M3 series chip laptops and keep the device charged. If you want to know more, feel free to reach out to us at support@plugable.com

It sounds like the virtual position of the displays may be off. To test this, move the mouse to the opposite side of the screen to see if it reaches the other monitor. If it does, this should be a simple fix. Open System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement - from there you can click and drag the screens to position them as you wish.

You are correct that adding additional monitors will increase load on the CPU and GPU. However, the specific amount depends on the type of applications you are loading on the screens. Most modern processors should be able to handle simple tasks on 3-4 monitors, but any higher than that may require a dedicated GPU.
